Rotted or damaged tongue-and-groove and lap boards get replaced individually with matched profile and species. Replacement boards are sealed on all six sides, including the back, before installation to prevent moisture wicking.
Rot remediation includes checking behind the board for sheathing damage before closing it back up. We probe surrounding boards beyond the visibly damaged one, since rot and pest activity often spread further than they appear.
Wood siding needs re-staining and sealing on a regular cycle to prevent moisture absorption and UV breakdown. We test stain absorption on a hidden section first, since weathered wood can absorb unevenly.
